Jeep Cherokee Performance
The 2019 Jeep Cherokee has independent suspensions in both the front and rear, allowing flexible movement to absorb obstacles like potholes in the road or bumps in the trail. Meanwhile, a rigid body structure—crafted with high-strength steel—keeps the ride inside the cabin smoother and quieter.
Jeep created the 2019 Cherokee to provide more traction across a variety of road and weather conditions. Each model comes with a rear-axle disconnect, which allows the vehicle to save energy by switching to two-wheel drive when that extra traction isn’t needed. On top of that, you have a choice of three high-tech 4×4 systems:
- Jeep Active Drive I works alongside the Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System, which allows you to switch between Auto, Snow, Sport, and Sand/Mud driving modes.
- Jeep Active Drive II sends torque to wheels with greater traction and increases torque at low speeds to help get you moving.
- Jeep Active Drive Lock offers the greatest off-roading capability, with a rear axle lock and added Rock drive mode to enhance your ability on the trail.
2019 Jeep Cherokee Engine Options
There are also three engines to choose from in the 2019 Jeep Cherokee, including a new 2.0 Turbo that provides increased fuel economy thanks to the help of an Auto Stop/Start system. Plus, twin-scroll technology means you get responsive power out of the gate. This engine delivers 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
The 2019 Cherokee comes standard with a 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 engine, which employs dual variable valve timing to use less fuel than previous versions. In fact, you can drive for over 474 miles on the highway before needing to refuel when you choose this option. This motor generates 180 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque.
To get the most power out of your Cherokee, opt for the 3.2L Pentastar® V6. This energetic engine is strong enough to tow up to 4,500 pounds when properly equipped, with 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque.
2019 Jeep Cherokee Redesign
The classic Jeep style you know and love in the Cherokee has been refreshed for 2019. The signature seven-slot grille remains attached to the hood, but the lines have been smoothed out for a more flowing design. Around back, the liftgate has been redesigned with lightweight materials, and offers a hands-free open option.
If you want the premium interior of the Jeep Cherokee with the open-air feel of a Wrangler, opt for the dual-pane sunroof. Additional interior features include new Piano Black accents on the center console, with Satin Chrome trim for a premium look.
Additionally, there’s a front storage area conveniently located next to the USB port and 115-volt outlet for easy charging access when you need to plug in your smartphone. The rear cargo area has also been stretched three inches wider than the 2018 model. As a result, there is 24.6 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the rear seats.
